Jennifer Gray
Background: Jennifer Gray is the head coach for our 14’s team. Jennifer started playing volleyball at a young age and continued through club volleyball and high school, where she played on the varsity team for Rex Putnam. Her love for the game did not stop at graduation and she used her talent with working with girls to continue her career in coaching. She was the JV coach for Rex Putnam for 6 years. This will be her 6th year coaching club volleyball. Jennifer is an outstanding coach that gives her best to all the girls that play for her. She takes the time to make sure that they are not only improving every time they get on the court, but to enjoy the game and have fun.
Philosophy: Coaching girls at the 14’s level has certain requirements not found with the other age groups. These differences require a different set of skills, approach, and philosophies to develop these girls. Jennifer understands these differences and embodies the skills necessary to develop young girls at this age. She will help the girls develop a love for the game along with the necessary foundations and skills to build upon for the years to come as they continue on in their volleyball careers. Jennifer understands how important it is for the girls have a positive experience and she makes it her number one priority. It is her goal to develop them as individuals and have fun along the way.

F. Roy Catibayan
Background: Roy is the founder and Head Coach of our Club and 18’s team coach. Roy is an extremely energetic coach whose love of the game, and love of his role as a coach is very visible. His fondness for the game started in the 4th grade in the Philippines. His playing days included Club ball through high school in Portland and played in college. He started his coaching career as a coach for a women’s team in Portland. He was quickly recruited by Teresa Zimmerly of Jesuit HS to coach for the now defunct Crusader Volleyball Club, which she was a director of. In 1996, he reformed the club into what it is today. He is currently the JV coach at Jesuit HS.
Philosophy: Roy simply believes that everyone should be given the opportunity to learn the game of volleyball. It should be noted that the “guaranteed playing time” policy of the club is his overriding policy. “No one should be made to sign up and pay for a spot on a team and be forced to simply sit and watch their team from the bench”... is a guiding principle that we operate by. His other mantra that he wants all of his players to follow,“...relentless pursuit of the ball” will guarantee that any team he coaches will be competitive at whatever level they play. He believes that all players should look back over their club ball years with fondness and good memories.

Bill Anderson
Background: Bill has been with the club for 4 years as the head coach of the U12 team as well as the assistant coach for the both the 16U and 18U teams. He is a former collegiate athlete and has experience in coaching other youth sports such as soccer, basketball, and baseball. He brings his experience of coaching, his love for volleyball, and his desire to see kids succeed. Bill will be the head coach for our 16U team.
Philosophy: His philosophy is to provide an environment where each player can grow in their skills as a volleyball player but more importantly as a member of a team. He believes that this can only be achieved through hard work, having fun, and working together. It is his goal to help the girls achieve this not only in volleyball but all aspects of their lives.

Gregory Allen Head Coach 12U
Background: Greg is the 12U coach and comes with solid coaching experience. He is a returning coach from the early years of the Pacific Volleyball Club. He coached for 10 years at Jesuit High School at all levels: JV2 for two years, JV for 5 years, and was assistant Varsity coach for 3 years. During those years he also coached for two seasons with Pacific Volleyball Club in the winter season, traveling to Davis, CA to coach in the national tournament. He also has played co-ed and men’s adult volleyball in the Portland area on grass, sand and court; he truly loves the game.
Philosophy: His philosophy is centered around skill-building and development. Volleyball is a finesse sport, requiring an array of skills that must be learned, practices and habituated, becoming so entrenched that they flow in the game without thought. To this end, the 12U’s is a wonderful time to teach young players the basics of the game, forming a solid and dependable base from which to build their development for future years, as well as a deep love for the game. To this end, both practice and game playing time are immensely valuable in helping young players’ develop confidence and joy in playing.
